Officiating

Without officials we would have no competition – they are an essential part of our sport.

Your county needs you!

We have been lucky to have such a dedicated team of experienced officials in Norfolk for so long, however, we desperately need new people to step up and get qualified – without more officials we will reach a point where competitions begin to be cancelled.

Start small and help out

It doesn’t need to be a huge commitment, often you start by helping out at meetings – holding a tape, marking a throw or measuring a jump. Some also become involved on the track in recording the positions of athletes as they cross the finish line or recording their times. Most of these duties are not difficult once the basics are understood, accuracy and skills will improve with experience.

Support and Training Available

England Athletics run courses in all aspects of officiating. We can often help cover costs of this training, as well as providing support on your officiating journey, so please get in touch to find out more.
